The Choice

Ahhh, poor Paris. He is so screwed.

This is the first piece of my concentration for AP art. I thought my original idea was pretty straightforward—show the universality of the Iliad's theme of balance through the incorporation of modern day objects into the ancient Greek storyline. Balance would be represented by contrast and compositional balance. The teacher thought it was too vague though, so I kept refining it and adding multi-syllabic buzz-words until she was happy. I no longer have any clue what it means; I can't get half-way through it without falling asleep, but I guess whatever distracts the judges from the fact that I'm doing 12 pieces of fan art is good.

If you're wondering about the scarf . . . see, I was reading through the fight scene between Paris and Menelaus (best fight scene ever, by the way. Paris takes one look at Menelaus and runs back inside. I soooo have to draw that) and it mentioned Paris's leopard cape. Ok, speckled panther, but the first thing I thought of was a leopard print scarf. And so he's wearing one. Yaaaay leopard print!
