This is how I see Saphira from the Eragon books. Had lots of fun doing this, it was a great excuse to go back and reread the books. Acrylic and colored pencil on board.

Daily Deviation"I am ashamed that I let this beautiful painting slip through my devwatch without me at least favouriting it when it was submitted. The amount of detail that ~AnnPars put into her version of 'Saphira ' is absolutely stunning. It's done with Ann's own style, but it stays true to the book beautifully -- the background really showcases some of the great landscape described in the series, and the ambiance is truly Paolini-esque. Hey, rock the dragons! The spindlies really add a sense of movement & a thickness that she would seem frail without, as such she's magnificent without losing her grace. Excellent use of line and shape, fundamentals are king! The interleaving coils seem almost like a celtic pattern, & the scales are very original & intriguing. My only critique is that it may be a little flat, try experimenting with angles and perspectives, studying storyboards for comics and animations will really help with that area of illustration :)
